Artificial Intelligence in Arabic–Indonesian Translation: A Student Survey Study

Advances in artificial intelligence have significantly influenced education, particularly in Arabic language learning and translation practices. This study investigates the integration of artificial intelligence in the translation process among Arabic Language Education students, focusing on frequency of use, types of applications employed, and student perceptions. Employing a quantitative descriptive survey design, the population consisted of 120 Arabic Language Education students, while the sample comprised 80 respondents selected purposively based on their participation in translation assignments. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire instrument covering indicators of artificial intelligence usage frequency, application types, and perceptions of translation accuracy. The data source consisted of student responses, and analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical techniques, including frequency distribution and percentage tabulation, supported by tools such as SPSS and Microsoft Excel for data processing and visualization. Results indicate that artificial intelligence usage is relatively high, with students frequently employing artificial intelligence applications as translation aids. Students expressed positive perceptions, emphasizing that artificial intelligence accelerates the translation process and enhances vocabulary comprehension, while maintaining caution by verifying the accuracy of texts generated. The findings suggest that artificial intelligence functions effectively as a supportive tool rather than a substitute for translation competence, and its integration into Arabic language education requires pedagogical guidance from instructors to ensure balanced use, fostering both technological literacy and linguistic mastery.
